3 ACTIONS TO DRIVE YOUR DEVELOPMENT PLAN
October marks the start of the 4th quarter – a critical time for businesses to deliver the financial target for the year. A time when leaders will relentlessly focus their employees, resources, and efforts around delivering corporate financial commitments for the year.
So why aren’t you taking the same relentless approach on delivering your development goals for the year?
As the leader of your career, you should be looking to deliver a strong Personal Return on Investment in 2024 for your time spent – October is the time to rally your resources.
Here’s your Q4 Gameplan:
1️⃣ Identify the 5 people that will provide feedback on your performance in 2024 to support your year-end discussions with your manager. Send the request this week to give them ample time to respond ahead of the holidays.
If you don’t know what to ask, start with these 2 questions:
✅ "What leadership behaviors have I demonstrated delivering my projects this year?”
✅ "What can I do differently next year to help you deliver your goals?”
2️⃣ If you have not made progress on a development goal, ask for a project or proactively seek out an opportunity to support an Employee Resource Group (ERG) or department initiative that can be delivered in the next 8 weeks.
3️⃣ Go back through your Sent Mail and make a list of the initiatives and projects you completed that were “above and beyond” the original ask of your manager. You and your manager may have forgotten some great wins earlier in the year that you want to bring forward during year end discussions.
