WHY EMPLOYEES ARE NOT MOTIVATED BY CAPABILITY BUILDING

It’s true that growth and learning opportunities are valuable motivational tools for managers and leaders to keep teams engaged.

However, it can backfire when leaders don’t take into consideration that organizational morale is low or dropping.  Employees in these situations may feel overwhelmed by workload, conflicting priorities, or being micromanaged.

A leader who approaches these employees with “new challenges” or “skill-based mandatory training” without addressing the morale issue may unknowingly contribute or accelerate the morale free fall.

Instead, start first with removing non-value add work, meetings, and priorities to give employees the time to breathe and appreciate your growth and learning opportunities.
